                  UPDATE

It’s a beautiful winter’s morning and you’re just reminiscing with one of your colleagues about the
heavy snowfall around this time last year. As you glance back at your screen an email from Paul
                  Pau arrives in your inbox:

                  TRIGGER

                  Email

                  To: Senior Manager
                  From: Paul Pau
                  Subject: Retail stores

It’s short notice, I know, but I’ve got an urgent request for you. I need your help preparing for the
next Board meeting. I’ve been thinking about how we can arrest the share price decline, after the
euphoria of our initial listing we are really feeling the pressure.

While flicking through the news yesterday I saw the attached article about the experience
economy and I thought it could be lucrative for us too.

Firstly, I can see loads of benefits, things like increased brand awareness, but I know I am a little
excited, so I need someone with a clear head to help balance me out a little. Please can you
explain the risks of such a move to me?

I’m convinced opening our own stores is our next logical move, so please could you also explain
how we can control all these risks too?

We’ve got a Board meeting later this afternoon, so if you could get it to me in an hour please.
