Reference Material – Letter of resignation from Sheila Jones

I am writing to formally tender my resignation from Vita. I would stress that this has not be an
easy decision to make, having worked at what I consider to be a fantastic company for the last 7
years. I have learnt a great deal during my time here, and leaving will not be easy.

However, I feel that now is the right time to move on. In the spirit of honesty and friendship (for I
consider all at Vita to be my friends) I am leaving to work for Funfitt. The current Chief Technology
Officer there is due to retire in 12 months’ time and, assuming all goes well for me, I will take over
the role when he does.

I believe that my career has gone as far as it can at Vita. The existing Board members are all still
young and ambitious, and I cannot see a similar opportunity becoming available any time soon,
despite the repeated assurances that I might be an Executive Director one day.

I should be grateful if you could let me know of a suitable leaving date.
