Chapter Thirteen-----Milestones
Vance and Regina had been traveling back and forth for the past year from
Atlanta to New Orleans every week. Vance would check on Uncle Frank and
his rehab treatments and Regina would check on her father’s treatment. Since
Regina and Vance meeting up with each other at the hospital they had been
inseparable. Not by happenstance, but by God’s grace Regina and Vance told
each other. Regina told Vance all about her past relationship with Levi and
how their relationship dissolved after she found out that Levi was a player and
she was just one in many of his conquests. Vance told her all about his past
relationship with Francesca and their European romance. Regina had finally
graduated from Emory University School of Law and was studying for the
Georgia State Bar exam. Regina had many questions about his overseas
adventures and especially those with Francesca. So Vance would talk about
his relationship with Francesca until Regina would tell him to shut up and they
would just laugh at how her jealousy would overtake her curiosity. He also told
her about his management of Larry and The Band.
The money that Vance had made while in the Navy aboard the ship was
starting to dwindle down, he had took over the extra medical expenses that
his Uncle Frank needed; which Medicare and workmen compensation did not
cover. Vance was paying all of the living expenses for him and Regina, their
traveling expenses, from Atlanta to New Orleans. Also, he was still helping
out financially with his Godson Lil Babu. Ever since he and Regina had gotten
back together Vance had begun moving closer to his spiritual side; he had
really started feeling guilty about how he had made the money. Vance even
tried rationalizing that businesses took advantage of the weakness in people
