No, Shelia said, not one of them, Kevin is her guy. Vance said, what, with a
big smile, all right! When did this go down Shelia, asked Vance? Hey, Sheila
said I just found out myself not too long ago. So that’s why Kevin has been so
quiet, Vance said. Yeah, Shelia said that‘s why he has been quite, he thought
since you and Cheryl use to date that it may be a problem between you and
him. Come on Shelia, it’s been over four years since me and Cheryl have
been involved with each other, Vance said. Vance got two cold beers out of
the refrigerator and called Kevin over; as he handed Kevin a beer he told him
that he wanted to rap with him. So, Vance and Kevin went outside. Vance
asked Kevin, what’s up man, nothing Kevin said. Vance told him to ease up;
it was cool that he and Cheryl were dating. Kevin almost choked on his beer,
Vance started laughing and asking Kevin was he all right at the same time.
Yeah Vance, I’m all right, Kevin said how did you know about Cheryl and me
dating? Vance told Kevin it was their actions that tipped him off. But Shelia
was the one that confirmed it. Kevin said man; I wanted to talk to you about
this one on one. Vance said Kevin it’s a done deal. Man, you and Cheryl’s
relationship is you all’s relationship and you guys have my blessings. That’s
straight up Kev, and they dapped up like old friends who had fought side by
side in wars of the past.
Vance was still sitting there reminiscing, when Mr. Ramous came by and
asked him how he was holding up. Vance told him that he was ok and he was
going downstairs to the cafeteria. Do you need anything? No, Mr. Ramous
said, but check with your Aunt Jessie and the others in the waiting room.
When Vance saw her he was outside smoking a cigarette, he could barely
contain himself; all at once he became real nervous. After seven years of
