THE JAZZ SIPPER
Chapter Fourteen—What A Wonderful World
It was June 1st 1987, and she had been in a Body and Soul Love with Vance
on and off for the past nine years of her young life. And the time had finally
come when she would be a married woman. She felt a glow over her like she
had never felt before, everything was going good. Their company had been
awarded a contract to oversee the vendors of downtown Atlanta (ATL). And
their company had made huge steps with becoming a major player in the U.S.
Black Conventions and Conferences. A 5.6 Billion dollar industry; thanks to
her father, who was chairman of the board for their company. Vance, her
father and Uncle Frank, had become mind blowing close. Aunt Jessie and her
mother were like reunited long lost best friends. Yes, Regina thought it was a
wonderful world.
When Dee Dee called and said that she needed her to come to New York
that it was important, Regina didn’t think twice about going especially when
Dee Dee began to cry. Once Regina explained to Vance what happened, she
knew he would want to go with her to check on her cousin. But Dee Dee had
asked her not to let the family or Vance know what she was going through at
this time. But, it was no way Regina was not going to tell Vance what was
happening. Regina knew Vance was working hard to ensure that all of the 75
vendors in the program under their management were successful. There were
always opportunities coming their way, along with business meetings about
contracts, purchasing, sales and security. Vance tried to attend as many
conferences as possible to be the face of the company. After, Regina
explained to Vance that she would take all the necessary precautions and
stay in touch with him constantly; he agreed to let her go check on Dee Dee.
