THE JAZZ SIPPER
and dropped them off about four blocks from her apartment. Regina thought
that the night stroll was the perfect appetizer to end the night out. But, it was
what Levi said before he kissed her at door that transformed the evening into
a vibrant visual display of romance. Before saying good night, Levi asked
Regina if she had enjoyed herself. Regina replied yes, I had a wonderful time.
Levi said that he had an even better time because he got to kiss her by air,
land and sea.
That night before Regina fell off to sleep she began thinking about the Wes
Montgomery and Jimmy Smith tune name City Lights. And she remembered
her daddy playing it all the time at home. Wes Montgomery and Jimmy Smith
were his two favorite Jazz Musicians. Regina wondered what their inspiration
for the song was, was it the vibrant city night sky lights that she had just
viewed or was their inspiration from the street lights of the inner city’s night
life. Regina began pondering her self-proposed question until she dosed off
to sleep.
The clock showed it being 11:00 am when she awoke the next morning to
her door buzzard ringing. It was her cousin Dee Dee, screaming in the
intercom Gina let me up. Regina hit the buzzard and made her way to the
bathroom. A few minutes later Dee Dee was knocking on her door. When
Regina opened the door Dee Dee began asking why she was not ready.
Regina asked ready for what? Wow! You forgot we are supposed to have
lunch today Dee Dee exclaimed. And afterwards, help me find a wedding
dress. Then all of sudden Regina remembered that today was the day that
Dee Dee was to begin planning her wedding. She had gotten pregnant by her
longtime boyfriend Ted.
