                          THE JAZZ SIPPER

When Dee Dee told Regina she was pregnant she also said that she
was going to keep the baby. And that Ted had asked her to marry him. Regina
thought that Dee Dee was moving too fast and she told her so. Regina told
Dee Dee that those were major decisions and required more time than she
was giving herself to figure it all out. But Dee Dee was not trying to hear that,
she had made up her mind. Regina asked her what was she going to do about
finishing college and Dee Dee told her she would go back and finish after she
was married and had the baby. Besides Dee Dee said, Ted have one more
year playing basketball at Syracuse University and everybody knows he is
going to be drafted into the NBA. Regina suspected that her cousin Dee Dee
cared more about Ted getting a NBA contract than she was in love with Ted.
That’s why Dee Dee insisted on keeping the baby and being married. After
moving to New York, Regina had only stayed with Dee Dee the first three
months. She noticed that Dee Dee had changed. Regina even felt that Dee
Dee was envious of her, so when the opportunity arose to get her own
apartment she jumped at the chance.

Right as Regina and Dee Dee was about to walk out the door the telephone
rang, Regina race back to answer it. Hi, it’s Levi, just wanted to call and let
you know that I really enjoyed spending time with you last night. Hi to you,
and like wise. I enjoyed spending time with you as well last night. What about
dinner tonight Levi asked, that would be fine if you do not mind having dinner
at my apartment Regina said. What time would you like for me to come over?
What about eight, Ted said cool I will see you then. As Regina was hanging
up the telephone she could hear and sense the frustration and impatience of
Dee Dee. Tell that fool you will call him back later, let’s go Dee Dee said.
