Firearms description
24
Enter the firearm description, the importer if available must be entered.
See pgs. 37-38 for more information on importer.
25 It is important that the descriptions be accurate.
There is no need to add a line, or squiggly line, through the rows not used.
26 The firearm description must match the firearm and the Point-of-Sale Gun Book.
The serial number needs to be taken from the frame of the firearm.
Firearms manufactured after 1968 should all be marked with a serial number. Should you
27 acquire a firearm that is not marked with a serial number, you may answer question 28 with
“NSN” (No Serial Number), “N/A” or “None.” If the firearm is not marked with a model # you
may answer with “NMN.”
28 If more than 5 firearms are involved in the transaction, record additional ones on a separate
4473 gun form. Only the firearm information is needed on the separate gun form.
(Customer does not fill out the second gun form.)
DO NOT obtain the firearm description from the pick-up receipt for pawn redemptions or off
of the MSR for sales. The firearm description must be obtained from the firearm itself.
Additional firearm purchases by the same buyer may not be added to the form after the
seller has signed and dated it. A buyer who wishes to purchase additional firearms after the
seller has signed and dated the form must complete a new 4473 & go through a new
background check.
