StrawPurchase
A straw purchase occurs when the actual buyer, or original Pledgor, uses another person (straw
purchaser) to illegally complete a 4473 Gun Form to make it appear as though the straw purchaser is the
actual recipient of the firearm.
The full page version of
this form is available on
pg. 44.
On pawn transactions if the original
Pledgor was denied, the firearm may
not be released to a member of the
same household. If a different
individual presents the ticket at a later
time, who is not a member of the same
household, they will be required to
complete a Sworn Statement form to
avoid potential straw purchases.
If you have reason to believe the
firearm is still going to the prohibited
customer then do not release the
firearm.
Please contact our Firearms Compliance officer prior to the use
of this form for support in your decision. Your supervisor must
also be notified.
If you have any reason to believe that your
customer is someone who would be prohibited from
receiving a firearm, you should decline the transaction.
