PHYSICAL EDUCATION ELECTIVES






  Personal Fitness & Health: Both of these courses are required for graduation.
  Personal Fitness is a half-semester fitness-based class focusing on the health-related fitness components and
  how to incorporate them into the students' daily lives both now and as they age. This is an activity class that
  requires dressing appropriately for participation every day.
  Health is a half-semester course that covers knowledge and skills necessary for personal health and well-being
  and the prevention and treatment of injury. Additional information covered includes disease prevention,
  relationships, Internet safety, consumer health, the life cycle, and preventing abuse of tobacco, alcohol, and

  drugs, as well as state-mandated CPR/AED instruction. Students will also complete the Alcohol and Drug
  Awareness Program (ADAP) seminar; this is a requirement for a student’s driver’s license.


  Body Sculpting*: This is an activity class consisting of basic instruction and implementing methods
  of conditioning the body including lifting weights and physical fitness training daily. This weight training class
  includes weight lifting and conditioning at a moderate tempo that will increase in difficulty progressively
  throughout the year. This class may include power training exercises, stretching, posture, calisthenics and
  running for speed development and conditioning, stations to develop quickness, and lifts and exercises which
  may be explosive in nature including plyometrics, among other activities. Skills tests will be performed. Dressing
  out and active involvement is a requirement.
  *Prerequisite: Successful completion Personal Fitness is required.


  Weight Training*: This is an activity class that will focus on building muscular strength and muscular endurance
  which requires lifting weights and physical fitness training daily. Dressing out and active
  involvement is a daily requirement.
  *Prerequisite: Successful completion Personal Fitness is required.


  Team Sports*: This is an activity class involving the learning of official rules and sports play in basketball,

  volleyball, soccer, team handball, Ultimate, badminton, softball, and others. Dressing out and active
  involvement is a daily requirement.
  *Prerequisite: Successful completion Personal Fitness is required.
