Specific objectives per school year (10th year EGB & 1st year Bachillerato)
By the end of 10th year EGB, students will be able to:
Communicate competence
Linguistic Components: Have a limited repertoire of short memorized phrases covering
predictable survival situations at the personal and educational level. Produce brief, everyday
expressions in order to satisfy simple needs.
Sociolinguistic Components: Perform and respond to simple language functions, such as
exchanging information and requests.
Pragmatic Components: Adapt and build well-rehearsed simple, memorized phrases to
particular circumstances through limited lexical substitution.
Language Skills
Listening: Perceive, memorize, and note down words and expressions not previously
encountered in the personal, educational, and public domains. Make use of clues such as
stress and intonation to identify and understand relevant information
Reading: Understand and identify longer, more complex transactional and expository texts,
such as formal letters and biographies.
Speaking: Use a series of phrases and sentences linked onto a list to communicate in simple
and routine tasks.
Writing: Produce longer, more detailed, complex transactional and expository texts. For
example: formal emails, imaginary biographies,etc.
