               2. Active Transport Mechanisms

               a) Active transport requires an input of energy (ATP).
               Active transport pumps move substances from an area of low concentration
               to an area of high concentration.
               b) ) Endocytosis moves substances into a cell; pinocytosis is cellular
               “drinking,” and phagocytosis is cellular “eating.”
               c) Exocytosis moves substances out of a cell.

               The cell cycle is the series of changes a cell goes through from the time is
                                    formed until It divides.
