Our experience has taught us that any Masterplan or Development Framework must be an effective tool that sets
out a clear vision of an agreed ‘destination’ but enables the route to that state to be determined and shaped by
factors and influences as they occur.
Below are some initial thoughts on factors that will contribute to the success of this project.
• Defining programme, scope and deliverables at the outset - it is critical to have • Consistent stakeholder representation leads to more effective consultation – set

• Visit project exemplars as a team – whether good or not, research based or other,
lessons will be learned that will inform your view of the masterplan. It is also a useful
exercise to support team building.
