Troubleshooting
NOTE:
If PD levels do suddenly change (either a pronounced increase or a
pronounced decrease), this could indicate larger issues either with the
asset being monitored or with the electrical system the asset is connected
to. It is highly recommended to consult with Iris Power LP Technical
Support.
7.4.2. Swapping Inputs
If measurements from one input are showing normal measurement results, but
measurements from another input are not, temporarily swapping the input cables may help
determine if the problem is in the monitor or the not.
For example, if measurements from Phase A show a normal data pattern, but
measurements from Phase B do not, connect the Phase A cable to the Phase B input, and
the Phase B cable to the Phase A input; then use IAM to run single-shot measurements on
both inputs.
• If the input that didn’t work properly still doesn’t, this indicates a problem with the Data
Acquisition Module; contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance.
• If the input that used to work no longer does, and the one that didn’t work now does,
this indicates a problem outside the monitor; in the cabling or the Termination. Contact
Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance.
7.4.3. 3D Data
A measurements’ 3D data is a good tool to interpret what is happening; however,
sometimes 3D data patterns are not obvious. Contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for
assistance with data interpretation.
7.4.4. Alternate Monitor
If a second Iris Power LP instrument is available such as a portable instrument or a second
GuardII+, this can be used for validating that the sensors are working properly. Run a
measurement using the alternate instrument and compare the results to the GuardII+.
• If the results are similar, then both instruments are likely working properly.
• If the results are significantly different, then there is likely a problem with one of the
instruments.
