4.2. Grievance Procedures
4.2.1. Any complaint against a faculty member who violates rules and regulations, policies, and
other offenses spelled out in the IFSU Code should be addressed to the University Grievance
Committee. Conflicts among faculty members should be addressed to the Faculty
Association Grievance Committee if not settled within the College or Department level. On
the other hand, any complaint against a student or group of students should be addressed
to the Director of DSSD or Chairperson of DSSD for the campuses.
4.2.2. Every faculty member, individually or as part of a group, has the right to seek redress
against injustice and discrimination and, to the extent possible, shall raise his/her grievances
within acceptable democratic processes. In doing so, he/she shall avoid jeopardizing the
interest and welfare of the learners whose right to learn must be respected.
4.2.3. No member of the faculty shall be suspended or removed from service except for cause laid
after an investigation. The Discipline Committee conducts the investigation.
4.3. Conduct of Official Business
4.3.1. Travels
4.3.1.1. When faculty members deem it necessary, all official travels domestically or
internationally the University President, in his discretion, may authorize the
University to allot from its appropriation for Traveling Expenses of Personnel, such
amount as may be necessary for travel. Faculty members should inform the
University President in writing the details at least two weeks before the planned
travel to obtain the approval and confirmation of support from the University.
4.3.1.2. Travels may be official, religious, social or personal in nature contingent on the
needs of the service; hence, approval for authority to travel is needed when a
faculty member represents University functions, as the trip is sponsored by the
University or a sponsoring, inviting agency.
4.3.2. Field Trips
4.3.2.1. Faculty members are encouraged to plan educational field trips for students. It is
expected that these field trips be carefully related with the subject matter of the
course. Before finalizing any official field trip, however, the faculty adviser/in-charge
should submit in writing its details to secure the permission of the Dean at least two
weeks before the planned activity. Before undertaking the trip, the Dean should
require that a written consent or waiver of parents be submitted and accomplished
by the students at least three days in advance and countersigned by the
Dean/Director of DSSD.
4.3.2.2. If a school transport facility is desired, the faculty member should accomplish and
submit an application form for this purpose available at the office of the Chief
Administrative Officer for approval and confirmation.
4.4. Conduct and Discipline
4.4.1. Code of Ethics for Teachers
The faculty member is required to adhere to the Code of Ethics of Professional Teachers
promulgated by the Board for Professional Teachers, Resolution No 435, series of 1997. Such
