and is sparring with Caspian, Helena is pacing like she always does before a
mission. Alex is jumping around practicing their flips and parkour moves on the
mat. Liam is going over mathematical equations, mumbling to himself. I missed
this little ritual. I lean against my bo staff closing my eyes wishing Lucas was here
to complete my ritual of arguing over who could take more, my shields or his
absorption.
We would always drive the team crazy with our bickering and competition
but I loved every moment of it. I miss his smile when I let him win and I miss the
fake sad face he would make when he’d let me win. I miss our little moments
together that made all of the shit we do worth it. I miss him most of all.
I snap out of my state with a cry of rejoice coming form Elaine. I look over
to the training mat to find Alex reffing the fight and counting to three with Elaine
pinning down Caspian.
“Elaine wins the match!” Alex shouts at the top of their lungs.
“Yes! Finally, I beat the one and only Clear Cut!” Elaine screams while
jumping around.
“Oh please, I let you win.” Cas whines while rubbing his arm.
“Whatever will save your pride sweetie,” Elaine bellows still jumping.
“Are there any challengers to the new champion?” Alex exclaims in their
best host voice.
“I challenge.” I raise my hand confidently.
“Bring it sis, you’ve been losing to me ever since we were kids.” Elaine
claims.
“Sorry I wasn’t Daddy’s favourite child,” I walk over to the mat and take my
defensive stance.
“The rules are simple,” Alex begins in their referee voice, “No use of
controllable powers permitted, no weapons, no killing.”
