“fancy-shmancy” restaurant in Renae’s words. An older couple approached a

waiter and made a scene of protesting their presence in the restaurant. The girls

promptly left and spent the rest of the night watching vine compilations on their

couch, snuggling and telling each other how much they loved the other. The rain

check provided by the waiter hung on the fridge, waiting to be used.

Teri guided Renae toward the bakery department and away from the

judgmental man still standing next to the lettuce with a scowl plastered on his

               face.

"He wasn't even trying to be discreet!" Renae exclaimed quietly to Teri with

a small laugh. The girls were no strangers to people who didn't agree with their

orientations and Renae found it easiest to laugh it off. She continued, "Do we want

               pastries or no?"

"Did you even have to ask?" Teri asked with a smirk, she moved to pick out

Renae's top choice of Danishes, "What else do we need?"

Renae shot Teri a look of appreciation before recommending they split up to

cover more ground, "I'll get drinks and you find popcorn?"

"Sounds good to me, Babe," Teri's use of Renae's nickname caused her face

to flush again as the girls moved in two different directions.

Teri stood staring at the shelf of over a dozen choices for popcorn, in awe of

the selection. There was no need for so much diversity in her opinion, but to each

their own, Teri supposed. The low sound of a stranger's voice filled the aisle, much

               to Teri's dismay.

"Was that your girlfriend, Dyke?" The man from the produce section
               inquired.

"Yes, she is, and if you'll excuse me," Teri grabbed a box of microwavable
popcorn and moved to walk out of the aisle, "I should probably go meet up with

               her."
