"Do you want to get some hot chocolate?" She inquired, jutting her chin
towards the shop.
Renae's eyes lit up and at once Teri knew her idea would be a success, "Can
we?"
"Of course!" Teri insisted.
The line to order was somewhat long; Teri insisted on ordering the drinks
while Renae sat down on a plush chair by a window. After ordering, Teri
unconsciously started watching Renae distractedly look out the window. She
looked lost in her thoughts but happier than she was after the homophobic man
ruined their wintery outing. Teri smiled to herself, thanking the universe for the
most amazing girl in the world.
The barista handed Teri two to-go cups of hot chocolate and nodded towards
where Teri was looking, "Is she your girlfriend?"
Teri was slightly taken aback at the barista’s nonchalance but quickly read in
the workers eyes that she had good intentions.
"Yes, for four years now," she replied with a smile. She found her hand,
once again, fiddling with the object in her pocket.
"She's beautiful. You're both very lucky," the barista said with a smile.
Teri found her pale face growing warm, she thanked the girl behind the
counter and gave her a generous tip before moving out the door arm in arm with
Renae.
"What's your smile about?" Renae questioned skeptically.
Teri pulled her slightly closer to herself, "Oh, nothing... I just have the best
girlfriend in the world."
Renae's smile grew wider as she countered Teri's claim, "Impossible because
I have the best girlfriend."
