Welcome Message by the President of AFOMP
th
I am pleased to welcome all delegates to the 18 Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical
th
Physics (AOCMP) in conjunction with the 16 South-East Asia Congress of Medical Physics
th
(SEACOMP), which will be held in this beautiful city, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11 to
th
14 November 2018. It is also my great honour and privilege to deliver a congratulatory
remark on behalf of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Organization for Medical Physics
(AFOMP).
As the president of the AFOMP, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Chai-
Hong Yeong and Dr. Noriah Jamal, the Organising Co-Chairs of this Congress, and the
Medical Physics Division, Malaysian Institute of Physics for coordinating this congress. The
Organising Committee of AOCMP-SEACOMP 2018 has planned a very interesting congress
that covers a wide range of issues, including invited talks by renowned speakers, lunch
symposiums, panel discussions and some pre-congress workshops. The AOCMP 2018
program comprises many interesting parts: scientific interactions, education and training
in medical physics, and special oriental cultural experiences.
The AFOMP will strive to build strong relationship between sub-regional organizations in
the Asia-Oceania region and international bodies such as the IOMP, IAEA, WHO, etc., and
encourage the exchange of information among them. It is also my great pleasure to share
this Congress with the members of Middle East Federation of Organization of Medical
Physics (MEFOMP) for the first time.
I would like to congratulate the Medical Physics Division, Malaysian Institute of Physics for
the enormous achievements they have made over many years, particularly in the
development of medical physics in Malaysia and collaborating with global organizations
of medical physics. This is the second time that the AOCMP is being held in conjunction
with SEACOMP in Malaysia. Prof. Kwan Hoong Ng and his team have successfully hosted
many worldwide scientific meetings in medical physics and related sciences in the past.
Malaysia is one of the strongest supporters of AFOMP activities.
I hope that the meeting will provide an informative and
stimulating discussion essential for further advancement of
medical physics for improvement in health care. I wish the
members of these associations every success and continuous
prosperity.
Tae Suk Suh
President of AFOMP
