Welcome Message by the President Emeritus of SEAFOMP
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Greetings and Welcome!
All of us are excited to return to Kuala Lumpur again for SEACOMP and AOCMP, where we
last met in 2004. Our theme is most fitting “A Sustainable Future for Medical Physics” as
medicine is advancing at an incredible speed and we, in medical physics, should keep pace
with it. To sustain our profession means that we should be capable to maintain a high
standard by continually upgrading our knowledge, skills and competency. It is only by
cultivating compassion for humanity that we could attain sustainable health for all.
Furthermore, I sincerely hope that we will spend time reflecting on what we have achieved
thus far and chart our future for the next decade. Our leaders should also nurture and
mentor the juniors to take up a leadership role to propel SEAFOMP and AFOMP to the
next higher level.
It is my great desire to see the SEACOMP and AOCMP to be platforms for the cultivation
and nurturing of research, collaboration and leadership. I invite all the participants to join
us in this exciting experience of learning, exchanging of information and fellowshipping.
th
Soon we will be celebrating the 20 anniversary of the formation of SEAFOMP in 2020. Let
us start planning actively now to make this a significant and memorable event.
“To achieve more, we should imagine together.”

President Emeritus of SEAFOMP
