Grace Defined

the concept of putting a lubricant like oil on human flesh
so that the flesh does not appear before God, for flesh
cannot stand in the presence of God. The idea here is that
with the anointing the person is consecrated or dedicated
to God, to be used by the LORD. Anointing sets one apart
for an office or function. So when we are anointed we are
set apart so that God’s enabling can come upon us to do
His work in His way and with His methods.

There are Old Testament examples as in Exodus 28:40-41
                               (and Exodus 29:4-7).

“For Aaron’s sons you shall make tunics, and you
shall make sashes for them. And you shall make hats
for them, for glory and beauty. So you shall put them
on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You
shall anoint them, consecrate them, and sanctify
them, that they may minister to Me as priests.”

In this instance Aaron and his sons were to be consecrated
by the anointing so they could stand before God and
                               minister to Him as priests.
In the New Testament, Apostle John states in 1 John 2:20-
                               21, 26-27,

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and
you know all things. I have not written to you
because you do not know the truth, but because you
know it, and that no lie is of the truth. These things I
