have written to you concerning those who try to
deceive you. But the anointing which you have
received from Him abides in you, and you do not
need that anyone teach you; but as the same
anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is
true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you,
you will abide in Him.”

Here, God wants the anointing to work in Christians so
they can supernaturally know the things of God, and have
the witness of the Holy Spirit working in them to teach
them so they are not left at the mercy of just the preachers
and teachers who minister to them. This is what secures a
true Christian not to easily fall victim to heresy. The
anointing within every Christian bears witness to truth
when it is heard, and it rings alarm bells when error is
disseminated.
