GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
Response of True Repentance
When the revelation of Jesus is comprehended, it produces
conviction of heart, a need to do something about what is
heard. In other words, a response to the revelation of Christ
produces repentance, a change of thinking, a turnaround in
mentality, and thereby a change of conduct and works in
the life of the person.
When anyone repents, God gives him or her grace to live
the new life. Unfortunately, we have many in our churches
today who claim to follow the Lord without ever coming to
a point of repentance. No one can truly be a disciple of Jesus
Christ who hadn’t first repented. Without repentance,
there will always be a struggle to live up to the standards of
Christ; this is because grace is only received after one had
repented.
We need grace to walk with God. I am personally concerned
at the level of participation in our local churches. We see
people who have come to our churches but who have never
encountered repentance. They are in our congregations as
workers, ushers, musicians, protocol crew and youth and
children ministers. Some are even in leadership as deacons,
ministers and pastors.
There are senior pastors, heads of churches and entire
church denominations who never repented!
