GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it
stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two
he covered his face, with two he covered his feet,
and with two he flew. And one cried to another and
said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The
whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of
the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried
out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I
said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a
man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a
people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the
King, The LORD of hosts.”
Notice that the prophet Isaiah had been in ministry and had
been prophesying for a few years. In a manner of speaking,
he was already in church and doing God’s work. But this
encounter with God left him admitting that he was unclean
and unworthy of speaking for the Holy God until he was
cleansed. Many who preach to people on God’s behalf
today may be in need of such a divine encounter that will
produce a turnaround in their own lives first, then in the
lives of those who hear them. On the day of Pentecost many
came to repentance because the preacher, Peter himself, had
experienced repentance earlier in his walk with God.
