Jesus, The Source of Grace
Isaiah was preaching, declaring judgment and all that comes
with being a voice for the LORD; but he was in need of a
divine encounter himself. When he eventually got that
encounter it made him to repent. God sent an angel to clean
him up and still continued to use him, but now as a cleaned
up vessel. We all need this touch of God in our lives to
sharpen our personal devotion to God and the calling we
have received of Him.
c. PETER
Peter had an interesting encounter that stirred him to
repent again having already been a disciple of Jesus Christ –
and no doubt the most vociferous of the twelve apostles.
There was a measure of presumption with Peter; some
would even accuse him of callous negligence. As the Lord
approached His Passion experiences, He forewarned His
disciples that they would be tempted to withdraw from
Him that particular night. To Peter in particular the Lord
warned him against denying Him after Peter had avowed
his love for the Lord. But, rather than heed the Lord’s
warning and pray, Peter’s response was self-assured:
“Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I
will never be made to stumble.”Jesus said to him,
Assuredly,” I say to you that this night, before the
rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”Peter
said to Him, Even” if I have to die with You, I will
not deny You!”And so said all the disciples”
(Matthew 26:33-35).
