earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears
God and shuns evil?” (Job 1:1, 8).
However, when Job went through some of life’s severe
challenges and found himself short of a wholesome
understanding of God’s workings and purpose, his opinion
changed at the end of his narrative when he realized the
actual dealings and ways of God.
“Then Job answered the LORD and said: “I
know that You can do everything, And that no
purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. You
asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without
knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did
not understand, Things too wonderful for me,
which I did not know. Listen, please, and let me
speak; You said, ‘I will question you, and you
shall answer Me.’ “I have heard of You by the
hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.
Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and
ashes” (Job 42:1-6).
This sort of change of heart, as a saint, is also repentance.
And like this example of Job shows, when a believer moves
from ignorance to insight, then repentance should follow.
Mind you, though, we are not talking about the clear
matter of sin, but the clear matter of revelation contacted to
bring us into the same frequency with God.
