               Catering




               DURATION: 1 Year or 2 Semesters

               PREREQUISITE: CXC Food and Nutrition at General Proficiency
               Grade 1, 2 or 3 or SJPI Diploma in Home Economics.


               The Certificate in Catering programme will equip students with basic

               catering skills which may be used for self-employment or for entry
               into the hospitality industry. Knowledge gained in this programme

               may also serve as a foundation for advanced training in Catering.
               Emphasis  is  placed  on  safe  workplace  practices  and  nutrition  for
               healthy lifestyles. Operational tasks within the trade are embedded

               within the study of food preparation and service, cake and pastry
               making and international cookery.

               Graduates from this programme may have the following as possible
               career options: Kitchen Assistant, Kitchen Porter, Waiter/Waitress,

               Catering Assistant and Counter Service Assistant.
