One teacher~researcher photographed this shell from many perspectives.










                                                 Then chose to draw this shape.















                                                                      But the outline didn’t look like the shell???


                                                                      She realised that she had included the
                                                                      shadow and the space under the shell

                                                                      in the outline.



















                                “I saw different shapes but not different identities.
                                They are not real.

                                Seeing things in relation to each other led to more
                                questions about the shell.
                                I wondered where a shape starts and finishes.
                                Is there an end?”













            Representing the shell in another language (drawing) raised the question of where the shape of the shell finishes
            and the shape of the shadow begins.  A knot that was welcomed.
