GENDER ASSEMBLY
rd
On the 23 of May, 2018, Barrister Hermis was invited to
our school to talk to us about emotions. Mrs. Florence Kalu
told us about her experience while she was in JSS1. She
said that there was a boy that bullied her every single day.
She said she told her mum who advised her that she should
not let him decide for her how her life would turn to be. Mrs
Kalu had taught us a valuable lesson, that we should not let
bullies take over our world or life.
Barrister Hermis came in and we gave him a roll-pop. He
talked to us about the good emotions and the bad emotions.
He said that the bad emotions are sadness, worry, pain, etc.
While the good emotions are happiness, excitement, joy, etc. He also said
that when we are very sad, angry or depressed, we should get a piece of
paper and our pens out and write how we feel.
The golden rule that Barrister Hermis told us is that we should never hurt
anyone.
After he talked to us about the golden rule, it was time for question and
answer. In one of his responses, he said that there is a prison for bad kids, it
is called Remand Home and that any child who commits a crime could actually
be jailed for life. Soon it was time for him to go and we said bye.
