have a clear vision and to set a chart of clear goals you will need in order meet to
achieve that vision.
Be clear on your goals. Everyone knows the saying “A vision without a goal is just a
dream.” It is one thing to set a lofty vision but quite another thing to actually achieve
it. To do that, you will need to be clear on what you want to achieve and how you
plan to do it. Keep reading…we will tell you how in the next few pages of this book!
Determine your niche
Okay, so you have identified you WHY and defined a clear vision.
Now, you need to establish a niche for yourself.
You can’t be everything to everyone. The mistake many people make when they first
set out on this journey, is to try to be an expert in every area related to their field. It
just isn’t possible. When you are just getting started, it’s important to focus on just
one main area. Focus on what you know best and then hone in on that message. It’s
better to develop deep expertise in a topic than to superficially cover a wide range of
topics. So, think long and hard. Determine your area of expertise and stick to it.
Technical expertise and professional presence are the foundational elements of a
thought leader’s reputation and profile.
Struggling to refine your area of expertise? Ask yourself these key questions:
– What interests me most in the field of education?
– What am I particularly good at? (Where do I shine?)
– Why do I want to be known as a thought leader?
– What am I known for right now?
– Where do I see this strategy taking me in the next 5 years?
– What makes me unique?
Be able to clearly articulate your niche. When you can align your unique perspective
with industry trends and research, you will start gaining momentum and influencing
the conversation.
