Watch this great TED talk by Angela Duckworth where she explains
her research and the concept of GRIT:

                                  Reflect
Think about what you have just learnt about the concept of GRIT.

How do you think you measure up?

Be prepared to fail. A lot.

There are plenty of stories about famous and successful people who succeeded
against all odds, who were mocked and ridiculed for their ideas and who were

ultimately recognised for their brilliance. These people had grit. They understood the
value of “failing forward” (John C Maxwell).

This may sound counter-intuitive, but failure is not fatal to your success. Failure is

the price we pay to achieve success. This makes it an essential part of your journey

               – if you don’t flip out, make fatal errors or fail to learn from your mistakes!

Accept that you're going to make mistakes. Once you can do that, you will be free to
do your best work, take risks and try new things. Don’t let your fear of making

mistakes limit you in your quest to achieve your goals. In life, it is not a question of

whether you will face challenges and make mistakes, but how you deal with
adversity. Ask yourself this: If there was no chance of failure, if my success were

guaranteed, what would you try to achieve?

                                                                                                       54
