of humiliation. The sum total of sin now outweighs the
good. God is saying to us, "Return, because you have
fallen—take with you words, turn to the Lord and cry,
'Take away all our sins and receive us back.' Then I will
heal your backsliding. I will love you freely and I will
turn away my anger" (Hosea 14:1,2,4).

When E"hraim spate trembline. he exalted him-
self in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he
died. And now they sin more and more, and have
made them molten images of their silver, and idols
according to their own understanding, all of it the
work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the
men that sacrifice kiss the calves. Therefore they
shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew
that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with
the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke
out of the chimney. Yet I am the Lord thy God
from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no
god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

S. Zephauiah's Message to America
The prophet Zephaniah very clearly shows us what a
nation must do to be spared divine judgment:
"Gather yourselves together." Let everybody get to-
gether with one voice of repentance and contrition.
Those "not desired"—the prostitutes, addicts, prison-
ers—all must come. Backsliders must return. It is either
national repentance or national overthrow. The prophet
is saying, "Do you want to be spared? Then get your-
selves together and repent."

Gather together and pray, you shamless nation,
while there still is time—before iudgment begins,
and your opportunity is blown away like chaff; be-
fore the fierce anger of the Lord falls and the terrible
day of his wrath begins. Beg him to save you, all
