FROG HAVEN PROJECT
FR
OG HA
This year, at the Wentworth Falls Junior campus, the students in Stage 2, under the guidance of their teacher, Mr
Luke Carr, created a fantastic Frog Habitat Haven, which is located adjacent to the Junior School’s Adventure
Playground.
The project was made possible through a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant, and the students created such a
conducive environment for frogs that it has seen the return of native species which had long since left the area.
The project not only involved biology, ecology and environmental studies, it provided students with a hands-on
way to learn about Maths!
“By creating a suitable habitat for frogs, we’ve not only provided a safe haven for these amphibians but also
established a balanced ecological cycle,” explains Luke.
The official opening of the Frog Habitat Haven in
December was a great success. A smoking ceremony,
fluorescent cupcakes, a gathering of excited parents,
students and teachers and the evidence of tadpoles,
marked the beginnings of a healthy environmental
rehabilitation project within the school grounds.
Congratulations to Mr Carr and his students on such a
wonderful achievement.
DOGS CONNECT PROGRAM A HIT WITH THE STUDENTS

DOGS CONNECT PR
Following the ‘graduation’ of Rosie (whose owner graduated Year 12 this year), next year
we will welcome two new members to our School community, under the wonderful Dogs
Connect program. Dogs Connect is a world-first mental health and wellness program and,
as our little Rosie proved time and again, dogs provide emotional support, give students
(and Staff) an opportunity for connection or a ‘time out’, and can instantly alleviate any
stress or anxiety with their affectionate and calm natures.
Millie (right), a young Bernese Mountain Dog (and despite
her size, still very much a puppy), is full of energy and
enthusiasm but with a gentle soul and a love of people. Do
not be surprised if Millie sits on your feet or puts a paw on
you to make sure she is as close as she can be to you. Her
spirit will bring joy and laughter to our School community.
Maisie (far right)is a charming and wise 2-year-old
Bordoodle, well-known for her gentle and friendly
nature. She has a calm demeanour and is sure to provide
a comforting presence to our students. Maisie is used to
hanging out with horses and donkeys on a large property, so
we are feel at home in the spacious school grounds.
These new pups have passed their Puppy School Training
with flying colours and we look forward to them starting Big Welcome to BMGS, Millie and Maisie!
School with our students in 2024!
