SPECIAL MILESTONE REACHED AT SPRINGWOOD CAMPUS
There have been many significant moments in our School’s 106 year history; one of these was
opening the Springwood campus of our Junior School in 2003.
The location of this campus was significant, as the school was founded in Springwood in 1918,
where it operated as a boys’ boarding school until the early 1950s, when it moved to its present
site in Wentworth Falls. The School continued to grow, with co-education introduced in 1976; the
Wentworth Falls Junior School complex was built on the site in 1988 and the purpose-built Early
Learning Centre added in 1998.
The growth of the school over subsequent decades led to
the necessity of a second junior campus, and so it was that
we returned to Springwood, in 2003.
This year marks the 20 anniversary of the opening of the
th
campus, and a celebratory afternoon and picnic dinner was
held to mark the occasion.
Although largely an informal affair, there were speeches
given by Mr Coote (Principal), Mrs Newton (Head of Junior
School) and Mrs Danielle Mackin, our current Kindergarten
teacher at the campus who was appointed to teach the first
Pre-Kindergarten class opened at the Springwood site.
We were delighted that many past parents, students and
members of staff were able to join us for the afternoon,
which was ‘ceremonially’ marked delicious birthday
cupcakes and the planting of two trees.
