2. Aloes
Dried juice of the leaves of Aloe barbadensis family Liliaceae. Aloes are
the solid residue obtained by evaporating the liquid which drains from the
transversely cut leaves of various Aloe species. The juice is usually
concentrated by boiling and solidifies on cooling.
Barbaloin upon hydrolysis yields aloe-emodin and a glucose molecule.
• Aloe is used for treatment of minor burns due to presences of Aloin
A and Aloin B.
