compounds are chrysophanol (from rhubarb and cascara), aloe-emodin
(from rhubarb and senna), rhein (from rhubarb and senna), emodin (from
frangula and cascara) and physcion (from frangula and cascara).

Dimers of anthracene derivatives:
These dimers are formed by the union of two anthrone or anthranol
moieties, linked to each other through their C10 carbons by a C-C
covalent bond.
Homo-dianthrones: Dimers can be formed of two similar anthrone
moieties such as sennoside A and B, which are hydrolysed to yield
sennidin A and B, respectively.
Hetero-dianthrones: Dimers formed of two different anthrone moieties
such as, sennoside C and D are formed of rhein-aloe emodin anthrone
and are hydrolysed to yield sennidin C and D.
