were really doing some great and innovative stuff! Again,

there is no way I can talk about the specifics of our
applied technology, or the programs we supported, except
for one (later).

WAXING PHILOSOPHICALLY ABOUT MY CREW
The Low Observables Organization actually began earlier

than the appearance of Dave F and me. It was called the
“H Team” since the group leader was Harry H. The
company gave this virgin crew a little money, some lip

service, substandard working quarters, and staffed it with
technical personnel that were not considered “high

performers” by their functional managers.

They were a bit of an unruly, irreverent, underpaid,
modestly-rated “second stringers.” For obvious reasons,

many of these folk had a poor impression of MDMSC
upper management as well.

So here was I, one their leaders, completely ignorant of
the science and engineering that comprised Observables

Technology. That probably did little to make them
enthusiastic about their professional role or future in
MDMSC.
