Rochester Early College International High school opened its doors in September 2010. Throughout the
past five years tremendous success has been experienced by its’ scholars. Some hi-lights that exist are:

 All scholars take two dual credit courses from Monroe Community College their freshman and

sophomore years in Studio Art and Microsoft Office. These classes set the tone of the college

expectations from the first day they attend here.

 All scholars have the chance to take Spanish or Mandarin Chinese. Each summer we have sent

scholars to Beijing University for a 6 week immersion program for Americans Promoting Study

Abroad.

 Scholars were selected to have a science experiment sent to space. They conducted research on

live versus rehydrated tardigrades and the impact of micro gravity on survival. One scholar

presented their research at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

 International guests have visited Early College as a part of our Asia Society partnership. Guests

have come from various study abroad programs, families of our scholars, as well as visitors from

the Department of State’s International Visitor Partnership.

 Each summer English language learners attend the American language Institute with people from

all over the world. This is a 3 week overnight stay at Nazareth College.

 Every Wednesday the entire school comes together for a Whole Group meeting. At these

meetings celebrations of honor take place, students showcase talents such singing, writing,

poetry, and dancing, international news clips are shown, rules and expectations are reviewed and

college readiness information is shared.

 College club is an after school program that enables scholars to engage in participatory research,

college preparation, and on campus college activities.

 Grade reports are provided to scholars and parents every two weeks so that everyone has a true

pulse of their academic standing.

 College posters adorn the hallway with scholar pictures, the college course name and description

to honor those in college and provide class information for all scholars.

 Juniors and seniors leave the high school building to go to college classes at two different

campuses. The highest college credit accrual thus far has been 50 credits.

 Early College International has had one graduating class with

a 71% rate.

                                                                 Scholars showcasing their “I Rocked

Parents as Partners the Regents at RECIHS” T-shirts, for
                                                                 earning college readiness scores.
