Creating Strong Engagement and Relationships Through Active Student Involvement

Presented By: Pam Sieger, Leslie Laudenslager, Mike Smyntek, Leah Tymeson, New 9th Grade Students at Agora
                                                  Target Audience: All Staff

Students thrive in a classroom when they feel connected to their teacher as well as their academic and social environment.
As cyber charter school teachers, we have a unique ability to work with students on many levels throughout the day. Teachers
can have students play an active role in classroom instruction and planning, through collaborating with students in creating
meaningful lessons, activities, and projects; to having students help lead live instruction and presentations in class. Students
learn well from each other and giving students the ability to work in a student centered, student led classroom, active
engagement increases, as well as their sense of community. This session will demonstrate ways to incorporate students into
the instruction, planning, and teaching in a Blackboard room, and how this environment promotes overall classroom active
engagement and fun. Students who have worked directly using this method this past school year will be presenting and
                                                    sharing with the teacher.

Digital Tools for Giving Feedback on Student Writing

As an Creative Writing teacher, I have sometimes struggled to give effective feedback to all of my writers in a timely manner.
There are many tools available for giving digital audio, written and even video feedback, but which ones are the most user-
                                                     friendly and effective?

Dive into learning more about rigor and depth of knowledge! In this session, we will assess our current understanding of rigor
in the classroom and review Webb’s Depth of Knowledge. We'll look at how to incorporate higher level questions into our
subjects. We will focus on answering the following question: how do we create rich environments where all students learn at a
