P. 3
• more important for members to care for the course. While appealing to some low handicap
golfers,
• thicker rough runs against the trend of making golf more fun to play.
• Allow players to play in jeans, it is 2019.
• We need better signage on the course which point green fee players to the next hole. Biggest
complaint I have heard.
• The course is always fantastic, challenging and well kept. However, the bunkers are always in
horrible shape, either sand, or mud or slop. They need to be fixed, it is not a unique part of the
course, it is just ridiculous.
• We have the best Superintendent in Victoria we need to keep him.
3.Clubhouse (F&B)
• It would be great if the snack shack had some veggie tray's or some fruit - healthy choices.
• Have food and beverage cart drive around.
• If I could change one thing, I would bring in someone to wipe the slate clean in the clubhouse
and bring in an entire new menu and style.
• The clubhouse: specifically, the staffing, food quality, selections. We should update everything.
I would go there weekly and happily pay more $$ if the overall quality was greatly improved.
• Promote lounge/restaurant and make improvements to that area for better TV watching. Have a
wing night, maybe a Sunday Funday. We have one of the best patios in town and doesn't get
used, invest in furniture and make it a welcoming area.
• The lounge could be promoted better. One of the best patios in the city and is NEVER being
occupied. Promote more to the public. Have wing nights and happy hours etc.
• One idea on food and beverage minimums would be a reward system for those who spend more
than the minimum. A rewards program that for every dollar spent over the $600 the member
would get an amount credited back in the form of a coupon that could be used in the bar or
restaurant. People would spend more and the costs would not be that high to reward. A bit like a
Groupon.
• Golf great/value great, but everything else not great and could be improved.
• The clubhouse/snack shack is average at best.
• Hats off in the Clubhouse is a dated tradition. Pro Shop should sell more GV gear, I’d
definitely buy.
• Some optics could improve (parking lot/entrance, outside of clubhouse, etc.
4.Social
Q14. Are there any specific social events you would like to see at the club not mentioned above?
• Singles Night.
• Anything with the kids.
• Silent auctions to support specific club maintenance initiatives.
• I am not so sure the quality of food is good enough for gourmet dinners or beer/wine pairing
dinners.
• Skills competition.
• May engage in the future but for now just a social member working on my game.
• I'm not interested in this aspect of the club - I'm here for the golf only.
• Could have a Maritime night with lobster, or Winnipeg night with food.
• Bingo night with a special on food and drinks.
