You've Just Got to Have Heart
By Gerald M. Neff
Lovingly dedicated to all of those great folks that took such wonderful care
of me in the VA La Jolla San Diego - Cardiology section - and UCSD.
This poem is number three in the VA medical series for the distinguished
San Diego Woman Magazine
Well, at long last
I have the eyes that I may see
And my godfather of the VA with Scripps has finally given to me
a cancer-free prostate that I may pee.
Now it's off to a genuine Grand Finale that I might really be…
not a new start but an almost new Rebuilt Heart.
Yes, it's good news.
The Chariot is coming not to carry me home
but across the sky for a La Jolla Cardiology intervention with UCSD
all for my big extension of life
a corrected chamber to positively tick and pump away
that I may carry on for another day.
And, perhaps twenty years more
TAVR is the name
and healing hearts is the game
And a very successful one at that
thanks to the VA and UCSD teams
which includes the head honcho Dr. Galtz,
accompanied by Dr. Alvyn Gavea, and
Coordinated by the RN Kelly Wagner
And, of course, running the team, Stephanie
backed by all of those fabulous nurses Mahal, Sherry Lynn Lee
and many more responsible for my successful recuperation
at the above August installations.
Thanks to them all, I am really ready to go
positively forward to the promised two decades and more
so, you can see that thanks to the VA, I really will have done it… All my Way.
Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy Holiday and the same for the New Year,
Gratefully,
Gerald M. Neff Esq.
