– Ghazar Parbetsi (5th C.), a historian
who narrated Armenia's war of liberation
against the Sassanid Empire.
– Yeghishe (5th C.) is known for his
History of Vartan and the Armenian War,
which narrates in detail the revolt of the Ar-
menians against the rule of the Sassanid
Persia.
– Yeznik Goghbatsi (5th C.), a renowned
philosopher, theologian, and apologist. His
main work, Refutation of the Sects, is a well-
substantiated defense of the Christian under-
standing of God against the Mazdein, Mar-
cionite, and Greek heretical and philosophi-
cal concepts of God.
– Gorun (5th C.) is known for his Biogra-
phy of Mashdots, which covers the invention
of the Armenian alphabet.
– Hovhannes Mantaguni (5th C.), a dis-
tinguished theologian, who wrote Homilies,
which are known for their moral, pastoral
and educational character.
– Tavit Anhaght (6th C.) is one of the
great Aristotelian philosophers and scholars
of his time.
– Sepeos (7th C.), a noted historian,
whose work contains detailed information
on the history of Armenia before the first
Arab invasion.
– Ghevont (7th C.), a well-known his-
torian of the Arab domination of Armenia.
