MKP carried out the design for
the Royal Navy’s new five-storey
fleet headquarters at Whale Island
in Portsmouth. The fast-track
project involved the design of all
the building’s M&E services and
the project achieving brEEAM
Excellent.
The five-storey building is,
in essence an office building
conceived to be open plan in
terms of workspace planning,
to accommodate 850 staff, to
promote teamwork and good
communication.
MKP provided fully detailed design
and installation drawings for
Mechanical, Electrical & Public
Health services within the new
build, fully fitted out office building.

A key element of the building is the
integrated data centre serving both
secure and non-secure networks.
The data centre is fully supported
with UPs, standby generation and
duple supplies and services.
