On the other hand, they say that it can cause an economic problem, because it is
going to eliminate the work of many people who are now employed as drivers and
that it is going to affect economically both the insurance and health industries that
now take care of car accidents.
Other people think that the percentage of vehicles circulating within cities will
decrease and the mobility in them is going to change, because being driven by
machines is not going to require traffic lights at intersections and circulation is
going to be more fluid. Transportation is going to be more efficient and sustainable
and new jobs and companies are going to turn up and are going to deal with the
management and bill of driverless trips. Therefore, new policies should be created
for this new transportation system that equitably distributes the benefits that it will
produce.
The article ends with the opinion of experts who state that it´s going to be easy for
people to accept the use of these vehicles, it is going to be enough for them, to get
on and try it a few times.
4) Finally, answer the following questions:
4.1) what is your opinion about the article?
I think it is a great thing to have driverless vehicles; thinking about Mexico City, my
opinion is that the vehicle mobility would improve a lot, the number of vehicles
circulating would decrease and probably, as they say, so many traffic lights would
not be required. The trips would take less time and there would be fewer accidents.
One could pay attention to the view.
I think there are many politic and economic interests that would be affected and it
could be difficult. It is enough to see the problems that Uber and Cabify have had
with the associations of taxi drivers. I would personally prefer it and if new jobs are
to be created, much better.
