The fifth text5.1 “The Impact and reach of MOOCs” is mostly about the reasons
why developing countries participants chose MOOCs and the opportunity they
represent for students from developing countries. In this part I discuss about the
similarities I´ve found between two texts and the one in activity two. I formulate
questions I think the text could answer, tried to predict its content. I ´ve elaborated
its organization diagram, and then, see if it answered my questions and fitted my
predictions.
2. Five texts of the English text Comprehension Course
2.1 First Text: University Students, Professors Clash over 'Free Speech' .
1) Text type and intention
It is a narrative text. It has the intention to inform on a meeting at UCLA’s Student
Center, where a discussion on a policy statement on intolerance was held.
University leaders are discussing how free speech fits into higher education.
2) Vocabulary related to word map categories. (5 at least)
Jobs: provost, journalist, professor.
Work places: university, Supreme Court.
Routine Activities: read, think, speak, and hear.
3) Present simple and present continuous examples in text. (5)
