First-Day Franklin Celebrations Prove What a River Can Bring to a
By Donna RhoDes
While some people rested up on New Year’s Day, watching sports, enjoying family meals, or heading out for a walk in the nice weather, some die-hard outdoor enthusiasts headed to the Win- nipesauke River, where they un- loaded their kayaks and paddled through the raging rapids for a thrilling start to the Year 2023. Webster Lake Ice Fishing Derby
  By BRittany amalfi
Mark your calendars! Feb- ruary 18h and 19th mark the 44th year of the fun-filled Web- ster Lake Ice Fishing Derby! 50/50 tickets, and silent auc- tion items, and each year, we have three items for a raffle.” And folks don’t want to miss this year’s raffle! “This year, we are raffling off a portable bob house package (with a bat-
tery-powered auger, a heater, and a chair), a stocked freezer full of meat, and a fishing kayak. Each prize is valued at about $1000, and we also have
