Conclusion
From the discussions above, it is clear that the concept of ‘ideal’ in a schooling is a very broad
term that cannot be easily narrowed down into a universal definition. However, based on per-
sonal beliefs, one can attempt to slot in an individualised definition that speaks to one’s teach-
ing philosophy and experiences. In this case, the three students from the university of Johan-
nesburg collated similar ideas from their understanding of an ideal teacher and subsequently
came up with a new statement of awareness.
Newly developed statement of awareness:
~
An ideal teacher is one who is able to tap into the thinking of learners and encourage critical
thinking and creativity. One who is guided by the notion of nurturing, care and inclusion.
Lastly, an ideal teacher is one who is able to fully exploit technological resources available in
an attempt to re-ignite the love for inquisitive learning.
NB:
As previously communicated, the school denied us access to capture images at the school due
to safety reasons. We have used a few stock images and some actual images for the official
Facebook of Northcliff high school.
