Encouraging the use of technology and gamification
The use of advanced technology in
the classroom supports the notion
of education in the fourth indus-
trial revolution. The main objec-
tive of using these technologies in
learners is aimed at transitioning
from the conventional practices in
teaching to new and dynamic ways
of teaching incite the need for
learning.
According to Ghavifekr (2014), gamification in the classroom provides learners with neces-
sary skills such as critical thinking and problem solving skills. In such environments, learners
are encouraged to fully participate as opposed to lessons which follow the conventional route
to learning. In addition, wonderful tools like virtual reality and simulations can be used in the
same setting as an attempt to contextualise that were predominantly considered as complex.
Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating
them, the teacher is the most important.
