DISC RIM RUNOUT Disc wheels should be checked for lateral and radial runout before installing a new tire or tube. LATERAL RUNOUT See Figure 2-45. Install arbor in the wheel hub and place wheel in the truing stand. To check rim lateral runout, place a gauge rod or dial indicator near the rim bead. If lateral runout exceeds 0.040 in. (1.02 mm), replace the wheel. Figure 2-45. Checking Lateral Runout
