SPIRITUAL REFLECTION SERVICE
Spiritual Reflection Time will be part of the weekly schedule. . Residents will share in leading
these services, which should last about 15-20 minutes. This is an opportunity to be experimental
and often to bring to reflection some of the events, topics, etc., that surfaced during the week

               INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS GROUP (IPR):
Regular Interpersonal Relationships Groups will be held each week. The focus of these sessions
is the immediate and interpersonal interactions of the group members. This is an opportunity
to build and observe group communication. This group can help you understand something of
the way in which you and other people initiate and develop personal relationships. It is an
opportunity for you to offer and to receive ministry from each other in a community of mutual
               trust.

               HOURS OF THE PROGRAM
The course starts at 0830 hours and concludes at 1630 hours each. It is important that residents
be on time for each session of the course. This will entail careful management of time. All
residents are expected to fulfil course requirements and submit reports of all written
               assignments.

               PHONE
Phones in the Spiritual Care office may be used to make local calls. Discretion should be
exercised in making long-distance calls regarding patients and their families.

               NAME BADGES
Security badges will be given to all residents and interns at the beginning of the course.
Spiritual Care Professionals will wear their security badges at all times in the hospital. Dress
should be in keeping with your professional position.

               REFERRALS AND OTHER CLERGY/RELIGIOUS LEADERS
It may well be that at a certain point in a relationship with a patient you may wish to refer
him/her or the family either to their own religious leader in order to establish further contact,
or to one of the denominational clergy/religious leader persons appointed to the hospital. You
may wish to consult your supervisor regarding the appropriateness of such referrals.
